Despite ongoing reports, Channel Nine has confirmed Karl Stefanovic won’t be returning as host of the embattled Today show – despite his cocky claims that he’s the network’s ‘lucky charm’.
According to a report by Yahoo! Lifestyle on Friday, Channel Nine was considering reinstating the 45-year-old as host alongside Allison Langdon.
And speaking to Nova FM’s Fitzy & Wippa on Friday, Karl confessed he was gunning to get his old job back.

‘That’s what I keep trying to tell Channel Nine, that I’m the lucky charm,’ he said, as reported by News.com.au.
‘If they want to pad me up and send me in, I’m ready to go in and we’ll have a win.’
But Channel Nine has shot down reports he’s set to return to the program next year, claiming it’s logistically impossible.

The news Karl was being scouted to return came from self-professed media analyst Julian Evans.
According to Julian, Karl and Allison, 40, were set to debut at Nine’s new North Sydney media tower next year.
But a spokesperson for the network told Yahoo! Lifestyle: ‘Our new offices won’t even be ready until the end of next year.’

The popular TV host was fired from the program in December, with fans of Karl criticising the move ever since.
Karl was previously rumoured to be making a comeback to the morning TV show in July.
In an interview with the Herald Sun at the time, media analyst Steve Allen claimed Channel Nine bosses were working to reinstate the star.

‘They are on a path to rehabilitate Karl,’ he told the newspaper.
‘And it is going smoothly, but it is yet to be seen whether he would ever want to or be asked to return to Today.’
The embittered program has been prone to falling ratings, consistently losing out to their main competitor, Channel Seven’s Sunrise.
