As you guys knew that I was going to be attending Affiliate Summit West 2012. One of my favorite session was the closing keynote given by my friend Jeremy Schoemaker aka Shoemoney. Jeremy shared his story of how he went from being in debt of thousands of dollars to making an 8-figure online income through his blog and other internet ventures. He gave me a shout out in his keynote for our Free WordPress Setup idea This was Jeremy’s 50th time speaking and according to him it would be the last. I was in Jeremy’s first keynote that he gave at Izeafest in 2008. This presentation was very insightful and I definitely learned few very important lessons. The first session I attended at Affiliate Summit West 2012 was “The Future of Content Monetization and Publishing”. One of the main reasons of attendance was that my friend John Chow was in the panel. The panel included another old friend Ian Fernando, Steve Hall, and Murray Newland. There was another session at the same time that I was interested in called “25 Ways You Can Improve Your Website” which would’ve been a great article for our other blog List25 , but I figured that WPBeginner audience is more interested in the future of content monetization. John shared an interesting way that he makes money from his blog. He runs a pre-designed funnel that he tested a lot. Every email subscriber goes through a series of funnels where they get auto-responders that don’t do a hard pitch sale. Rather he makes strong recommendation. According to John, overtime all email subscribers that go through his list are worth at least $10. One of the things we have learnt from our years of experience: if you are going to a conference then you have to plan early to get the maximum benefits. In the past, we would attend just about every conference we were invited to. However starting this year, we have made a point to only attend conferences that will help our business grow. Too many conferences are full of the same old BS info. Affiliate Summit is NOT one of them. Our founder Syed Balkhi has been going to Affiliate Summit West for the past 2 years. So in January 2013, Syed will be there again. Like always, the conference is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 13-15, 2013. Why do we attend Affiliate Summit West? People have asked us this question several times at other events, via email, and via twitter. Ok, so 2011 is coming to an end. We are not going to any events in December. But a lot of users like us to share the name of events that we will be attending. We will be attending quite a few events in the first 3 months period of 2012. So I thought instead of creating an individual post for each, I should just create one mega events post. We will be attending a total of 5 events in the first 3 months of 2012. In January, we will be attending Affiliate Summit West and Consumer Electronic Show (CES) . Both of these are held back to back in Las Vegas. If you are planning on attending either one of these, then please let us know. Its always great to meet our readers.
